CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Hornets and All-Star LaMelo Ball have been sued by a woman who claims he hit her son with his car outside the Spectrum Center in October 2023.

The incident allegedly occurred after the Hornets’ “Purple and Teal Day at the Hive,” a free activity event on October 7, 2023.

As Ball drove away from the event, fans crowded around his car as he stopped at a traffic light on North Caldwell Street, the lawsuit says. The plaintiff’s son was among the people who surrounded Ball’s car.

Ball drove away from the area shortly afterwards. The lawsuit says he did so “grossly negligently and recklessly.” The plaintiff’s son was hit by Ball’s car.
