Man killed by train in Mississippi, sheriff’s office says |  News

SLEDGE, Miss. – A man was struck and killed by a train in Mississippi on Wednesday evening, according to the Quitman County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred around 9 p.m. on May 15 in Sledge, Mississippi, the sheriff’s office said. Sledge is just over an hour south of Memphis and has a population of fewer than 500.

The sheriff’s office told FOX13 that 21-year-old Leedarick Tribble was crossing the train tracks when he was struck and killed by an Amtrak train. According to the sheriff’s office, the train stopped for a period of time so officers could conduct an investigation.

The Quitman County Sheriff’s Office told FOX13 that Tribble was flown to Regional One Health in Memphis, where he succumbed to his injuries.
