July 4th Celebrations and Street Closures

HOUSTON – Happy 4th of July Houston!

This week, many people will be heading out to celebrate America’s 4th of July celebrations. If you’re traveling near Allen Parkway, you may have already noticed closures for Freedom Over Texas. However, that’s not the only event with surrounding closures. Here are a few others in town:

5km wild run

The Run Wild 5K kicks off early in the morning, just after 7 a.m., at Uptown Park Plaza. This fun event is one the whole family can enjoy. From exclusive finisher medals to chip timing and treats like New Magnolia Brewing Co., there’s plenty to keep the party going. Races are expected to end around 10 a.m. Be sure to plan your route if you’re heading that way!

The race route will impact the following streets:

• Uptown Park Boulevard

• Post Oak Boulevard

• Oak Lane South Post Office

• South Wynden Promenade

• Westbriar Alley

Lindale Park 4th of July Parade

If you are not a runner and would rather sit back and watch the show. The Lindale Park Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Irvington Boulevard between 610 and Cavalcade. Several streets will be impacted by the parade. To ensure a smooth running event, the Lindale Park Civic Club urges the public to not park on streets impacted by the parade route.

Streets affected by the parade:

• Eleanor Street: West side of Fulton in Irvington

• Oak Avenue: Fulton to Helmers

• Woodard Street: Fulton to Helmers

• Kelley Street: West side of Helmers in Irvington

• Eleanor Street: East side of Robertson to Irvington

Closing:

• Irvington Boulevard: Closed from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Kingwood 4th of July Parade

Fourth of July celebrations will also kick off in Kingwood. The fishing rodeo will be held at 7 a.m. at Foster’s Mill Ponds, at the corner of Kingwood Drive and Forest Garden. A bike rodeo will follow at 9 a.m. at Kingwood Bible Church. Then, the Kingwood Fourth of July parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Creekwood Middle School and end at Kingwood High School.

The parade route will include:

• Sandy Forks Drive along Rivers Edge Trail

• Houston West Lake Walk

• Kingwood Promenade
