OKC police release footage of fatal police-involved shooting in early May

New video footage shows Oklahoma City police confronting an armed man at a home in the 7400 block of Northwest 106th Street shortly before 8 p.m. on May 5.

According to OCPD, officers were dispatched to the home because there were reports of a domestic disturbance, but a caller later told dispatchers the man had fired a gun.

In one segment of the video, a man, whom police identified as Kenneth Allsen, can be seen standing in a driveway and firing a rifle.

Moments later, a police officer approached the house. “When officers arrived, they encountered an armed individual in front of the house,” said Captain Valerie Littlejohn of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The officer who responds, a lieutenant in the department with ten years of service, can be heard saying, “Turn around and fall to your knees. Fall to your knees.”

However, the officer was not wearing a body camera, which is standard policy for lieutenants in the department.

However, a second officer who responded shortly afterward was wearing a body camera.

“Is this the suspect?” the officer is heard asking. “Yes.”

“Hey! Don’t reach for me,” the lieutenant yells at Allsen before shooting him.

According to court documents, officers seized several cartridges and three weapons.

According to police, two of these weapons were found on Allsen’s body.
