BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Three Buffalo men pleaded guilty to assault Tuesday afternoon in connection with a serious beating and stabbing that occurred last summer, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities said on the morning of Aug. 20, 2023, two brothers and their uncle assaulted a victim in the 1500 block of Broadway in Buffalo.

Amonti Atkins, 24, stabbed the victim in the face, authorities said. He and his brother, Amari Atkins, 28, then punched and kicked the victim several times, even after she lost consciousness. Their uncle, Demetrius Gore, 53, stomped on the victim’s face twice.

The victim, a 41-year-old man, is still recovering at a long-term care facility, authorities said.

The brothers pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree gang assault. Gore pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

The Atkins brothers face a maximum of 25 years in prison while Gore faces a maximum of seven years in prison when they are sentenced in July.
