It will be closed from May 20 to June 21.

Crews will close the recreation area for renovations and resurfacing of the park’s basketball court.

The goal is to provide a better overall experience for park residents and visitors.

Councilwoman Latresa Akins-Wells (Ward 4) believes Forest Park residents deserve “to rate less” than the park’s amenities.

“Our residents deserve nothing less than first-class amenities that will encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle, both mentally and physically,” Akins-Wells said. “Having grown up in Forest Park, I know how important it is to have access to high-quality parks. This is just one of many steps we are taking to ensure we are able to provide safe, clean and accessible recreational areas for youth, adults, families, seniors and those who choose to visit our incredible community.
