ATLANTA — Lime is adding a sit-down scooter option to its fleet in Atlanta.

The popular white and lime green shared electric scooters have been moving Atlantans around the city since 2018.

Now, in addition to electric bikes and standing electric scooters, riders can choose a sitting electric scooter.

The new model has a storage compartment under the seat to help riders carry more items.

According to Lime, ridership has increased significantly in recent years, by more than 170% between 2022 and 2023, and increased by a further 84% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to 2023.

Since their launch in Atlanta, nearly 800,000 passengers have taken more than 3.7 million trips.

The company says the new vehicle mode has been successfully introduced to other markets in North America and has shown its potential to attract older drivers, drivers of varying abilities and female drivers.

They hope to see the same thing happen in Atlanta.
