Walker man arrested and charged with child rape, police say

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – A Walker Police investigation led to the arrest of a Walker man.

Marc A. Rager Sr., 66, was arrested on charges of first-degree rape of a victim under 13, crimes against nature and sexual intercourse with a minor. Rager was initially charged with one count of sexual intercourse with a minor and one count of crimes against nature.

Rager was arrested on July 27 and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center after Walker police received a complaint alleging he sexually abused his minor 13-year-old granddaughter the previous day, according to a news release.

“After ensuring Rager was locked up and kept off the streets, our detectives continued the investigation and discovered that the suspect allegedly began sexually abusing his granddaughter in 2022,” said Walker Police Chief David Addison.

According to Addison, based on victim statements and other evidence, Walker police charged Rager with seven additional counts each of sexual intercourse with a minor and seven counts each of crime against nature for sexual abuse that allegedly occurred after the victim reached age 13.

“Our investigation found evidence supporting the victim’s claims that the alleged sexual abuse began in 2022, after she turned 11 years old,” Addison said.

Addison stated that Walker police charged Rager with 52 counts of first-degree rape of a victim under the age of 13, as well as an equal number of counts of crimes against nature.

According to Walker PD, Rager remains in custody at the Livingston Parish Detention Center. His bail is set at $5,250,250.
