Two more arrested for sexually abusing a woman in Alwal

On the night of July 13-14, Alwal police arrested two more men in the sexual assault case of a 29-year-old woman.

Sai Kiran alias Nani, 25, and Saleem, 27, were arrested by the Alwal police on Tuesday after questioning the first suspect, auto driver S. Shankar.

The incident occurred when the woman from Balajinagar in Yapral was returning home from Alwal police station after filing a domestic violence complaint against her husband.

On the way back, she took S. Shankar’s car from Lothkunta car park and stopped for dinner at Golnaka Cross Roads, where the two men got in as fellow passengers. “They asked Shankar to drop them a little further ahead. A few minutes into the journey, Sai Kiran, instigated by Saleem, grabbed the woman and threatened the driver of the car not to tell anyone. He sexually assaulted the woman on a wasteland opposite a well-known cinema hall in the area,” said Alwal inspector Rahul Dev.

Responding to her distress call at around 2am, Bollarum police arrived at the scene, rescued her and filed a report. The incident came to light the following day after the case was handed over to Alwal police on July 14.

Alwal police have registered the case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and further investigation is underway.
