Wilson shooting in Downing Street leaves one dead and one injured

WILSON, NC (WNCN) — One man was killed and another injured in a shooting in Wilson Friday night, according to police.

The Wilson Police Department said officers responded to a call about a gunshot in the 1200 block of Downing Street around 9:12 p.m. Friday.

At the scene, officers found 43-year-old Anthony Marquis Barnes of Wilson suffering from a gunshot wound. Wilson County EMS arrived at the scene and Barnes was pronounced dead.

Another Wilson man, 43-year-old Rodney Earl Farmer, was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was taken to ECU Health Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, according to Wilson police.

The police said investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
