Police ask public for help in accident involving little boy | News

IMPERIAL–TAccording to a recent IPD press release, the Imperial Police Department was called to the area of ​​Barioni Boulevard and “D” Street at approximately 4:28 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, for a traffic accident involving a car and an eight-year-old.

Officers arrived at the scene to find an eight-year-old boy being cared for by numerous citizens who were in the area at the time of the accident. The report states that officers were advised that the vehicle that struck the boy fled the scene. Officers combed the area for approximately 45 minutes to locate the vehicle, which was described as a white Hyundai Elantra.

The vehicle returned to the scene and the driver, identified as 19-year-old Hanna West of Imperial, was taken into custody and booked into the Imperial County Jail for hit-and-run, the report states. The young boy was flown to Rady Children’s Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
