Chiefs’ Buggs arrested for domestic violence/burglary – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Chiefs defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs was arrested in Alabama for the second time in a month on domestic violence and burglary charges and was released Sunday on $5,000 bail, according to records from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

There were no further details about the arrest. The police chiefs were informed about the case but did not want to comment.

Buggs, 27, who signed a $1,292,500 contract with Kansas City for the upcoming season, turned himself in to police on May 30 after being charged with two counts of second-degree cruelty to animals. Two dogs in Buggs’ care were allegedly found neglected and malnourished, and one of the dogs had to be euthanized.

Buggs, a run-stuffing tackle from Alabama, played three seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers before spending the last two with the Detroit Lions. He has started 23 games in his career and appeared in 56 games, recording 89 tackles and two sacks.

The Chiefs wanted to add Buggs to bolster the middle of their line, but that was before they signed All-Pro tackle Chris Jones to a long-term deal and signed Derrick Nnadi and Tershawn Wharton, both of whom were free agents.

The Chiefs, who celebrated their recent championship with a ring ceremony on Thursday and are aiming for their record third consecutive Super Bowl, have struggled with a series of off-field legal disputes since their win over the San Francisco 49ers in February.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice faces eight charges in connection with a high-speed crash in Dallas, and offensive linemen Chukwuebuka Godrick and Wanya Morris were arrested last month in Johnson County, Kansas, on minor possession of marijuana.

The NFL has announced the schedule for the 2024 international games. London, Munich and Sao Paulo will be the league’s three host cities.
