UTMB police search for woman posing as nurse who stole

HOUSTON — A woman posing as a nurse targeted Houston-area hospitals and clinics, looking for property left unattended in waiting rooms, according to the University Medical Branch Police Department from Texas.

Authorities said the thief is believed to be a woman who usually wears medical attire, including scrubs and button-down shirts. They also said she was wearing an identification badge that appears to be official.

Police said they were going to hospitals and clinics looking for purses left unattended in waiting rooms and lounges where they were taking wallets, cash and other items valuable.

Investigators released images and videos of the suspect and asked anyone with information to call Detective Jeff Rupert at 409-772-5692.
