Heat advisory west of Houston today

Today’s forecast:

We start the day in the 80s with high humidity. In fact, this humidity combined with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s this afternoon will create a dangerous heat index for our western cities. A heat advisory goes into effect today from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The heat index will rise to 110°. The range in Houston is 104°-107°.

Storm track today:

We started the day with thunderstorms along our coast. While it’s not impossible to get more storms this afternoon, the storm track is to the northeast of us.

Weekend forecast:

A high pressure ridge forms on Thursday. This high pressure area will increase temperatures and humidity will still be high. The end of the week will be marked by the hottest temperatures of the year.

I might put a 20% chance of rain in the forecast for a few days. But for the most part, aside from a few isolated storms or two, we will be generally dry and warm for the next 10 days!
