Pickleball is perfect for people of all ages. If you’ve never played, it’s very easy to understand the rules and start playing right away.

What is pickleball?

Imagine if tennis, badminton and ping pong came together and had a baby. This baby would be pickleball. All you need is a few paddles, a whipping ball and a full-size badminton court. It’s hard to believe it’s actually been around since 1965, because it’s just started gaining momentum in the last couple of years here in the United States. One of the biggest attractions is that it is so easy to learn.

How do you play pickleball?

The game begins with an underhand serve that must be executed across the court. Just like in ping pong, the ball can only bounce once per side. But play continues until the ball bounces twice to one side or is hit out of bounds. Games go to 11 or 15. You can play singles or doubles.

There is actually an American Pickleball Association

The USA Pickleball Association’s mission is to promote the sport, maintain the rules and organize tournaments. They have all kinds of advice on what to wear, what equipment you’ll need and specific court dimensions and net height when you click here.
