No one does it better when it comes to MLB picks!

Cease starts DH game 1

Dylan Cease will get the nod on Monday. Cease was decent in his previous outing, giving up three runs in 5.2 innings against the Rockies, but it wasn’t enough as he was hit with the loss. The veteran delivered a dominant 1.86 ERA this month and had a 2.45 ERA and 0.78 WHIP to go along with a 5-3 record in 55 innings pitched this year. Cease pitched most of his career in the AL and made just one career outing against the Braves, limiting them to one run in five innings.

San Diego has the roster to compete for a playoff spot, but is inconsistent despite ranking near the top in many hitting and pitching categories. The Padres have won four of their previous five series, but suffered a surprising home sweep by the Rockies this week, scoring just seven runs while allowing 19 runs.

Fernando Tatis Jr. has been pretty quiet at the plate lately. The 25-year-old star slugger managed just five RBIs in the month. Tatis Jr. has hit nine home runs with 22 RBIs and a solid .785 OPS this season. He went 1 for 3 in Friday’s win.

San Diego averages 4.55 carries on the year, good for 10th place. The pitching staff delivered a 4.05 ERA, placing them 17th.

Lopez continues to dominate

Reynaldo Lopez will get the nod in the first match on Monday afternoon. Lopez scored another gem in his previous outing, going five scoreless innings against a good Cubs offense, but had no assists and made no decisions in a game won by the Braves. The veteran right-hander was outstanding, allowing zero or one runs in all but one outing, and generated a 1.34 ERA and 1.09 WHIP complemented by a 2-1 record in 40.1 innings This year. Lopez recorded one scoreless inning in his career against the Padres.

Atlanta has been stable. They have won three straight series and rarely lose at home, losing six home games all season on Sunday night. The Braves offense has been mediocre this month and ranks 20th in home runs. The team recorded a series victory against the Cubs before this pitching-powered series. They are battling with the Phillies at the top of the division.

Matt Olson is having a slow year by his standards, but is showing signs of breaking out, posting five RBIs in his last four games. The 30-year-old first baseman has just 23 RBIs and a .731 OPS this season. He collected two hits and an RBI in the opening game of this series. Austin Riley did not play Sunday and is questionable.

Atlanta is averaging 4.73 runs on the year, ranking eighth. The pitching is strong, producing a 3.35 ERA, placing them eighth.

The San Diego Padres have a good chance of winning this game. They have a better record on the road than at home, with five games above .500. They won their previous road series against the Cubs and took Friday’s opener. Saturday’s match has been postponed.

Plus, Padres starter Dylan Cease is reliable. The veteran has been sharp, giving up zero or one run in five of his last seven outings, including seven scoreless innings at Wrigley Field in his previous road effort. Cease has a sparkling 1.38 ERA on the road. The Padres have won in each of its last four road outings.

Prediction: San Diego Padres +100

I expect the races to be expensive. San Diego has been kept in check, scoring four points or less in nine of its last ten matchups. Lopez has been dominant, allowing zero or one runs in all but one outing this season.

Prediction: Under 8.5
