Springfield man arrested for weapons offenses

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) — A person was arrested in Springfield for illegal possession of a firearm.

On Monday around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a call on Maple Street.

The suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Charlie Acevedo of Springfield, was said to have had a gun outside a supermarket. Officers found him and confiscated the loaded weapon.

Acevedo was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a permit and carrying a firearm without a permit.
