Jordan Addison of the Minnesota Vikings arrested for drunk driving

Minnesota Vikings receiver Jordan Addison was arrested late Friday night in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The California Highway Patrol responded to reports that a vehicle was blocking lanes on a freeway near Los Angeles International Airport shortly after 11 p.m. local time, according to an arrest report obtained by USA TODAY Sports. Officers arrived at the scene to find a white Rolls-Royce blocking a lane with the driver asleep at the wheel.

“Following the completion of the drunk driving investigation, the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol,” the report said.

Addison was arrested shortly after 11:30 p.m. local time and released two hours later.

The first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft recorded 70 pass catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in his rookie season and became a key factor for the Vikings when star receiver Justin Jefferson missed nearly half the season due to injury.

“We are aware of the arrest of Jordan Addison last Friday and are currently gathering additional information regarding the incident,” the Vikings said in a statement.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Addison was charged with reckless driving after allegedly driving 140 mph just before training camp. The 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner said in a statement that he “made a mistake and demonstrated poor judgment” while driving. The police report of the incident states that Addison “stated his dog was having an emergency at his residence and that was the reason for his speed.”
