Family Frustrated by Seating Choice for Savannah Bananas Game

Family Frustrated by Seating Choice for Savannah Bananas Game

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — While most fans are thrilled with their experience watching the Savannah Bananas at Sahlen Field, one family is sending a warning.

“They need to control third-party ticket sales, make sure everyone knows they have to buy them through the bananas themselves,” Sciarrino said.

The tickets sold out a few weeks ago, but he was able to pay a little extra on StubHub and get some for himself and his family.

“I’m a father who will do anything to make sure my kids have fun,” Sciarrino said.

He said they worked hard to get them in, but there weren’t many seats available together, even though they arrived about an hour early.

Sitting together was important to him because his 10-year-old son has epilepsy and needed to be able to sit up to enjoy the game.

“It was packed and then I heard the news from one of the ushers, an usher or a security guard, who let me know that there had been an oversale,” Sciarrino said.

Sciarrino posted a video on Facebook Friday night expressing his frustration about his experience. On Saturday afternoon, the Savannah Bananas responded.

The team sent 7 News the following statement:

“We reached out to the family directly to clear up the confusion surrounding last night’s game and offer them tickets to our upcoming games in Buffalo. We are always disappointed to hear that a fan who attended one of our games did not have a positive experience. Unfortunately, because these tickets were purchased through StubHub and received a few hours before the game, important ADA accessibility information, including the location of the ADA entrance and ADA early admission times, was not received as is the case when purchasing through our ticket lottery. Despite this lack of communication, our team began the process of finding appropriate seats when informed of the request during the game. However, the family has unfortunately decided to leave. Tickets purchased through our lottery system are only $35 and include vital information for all fans attending our games and we strongly discourage anyone from purchasing tickets through unaffiliated sites to avoid situations like this. Our ultimate goal is to ensure all of our fans have a positive experience at our games.”
