2 women injured after security guard’s shotgun accidentally fires outside north Houston nightclub, police say

The Houston Police Department is investigating a shooting early Sunday at a nightclub that left two people injured after authorities said a security guard’s gun accidentally fired.

The shooting happened near the Northline area in the 400 block of West Parker Road around 3:20 a.m.

HPD Lt. Riley said several hundred people were standing outside the nightclub, which authorities said appeared to be unlicensed, trying to get in.

There was a security guard who police say was handling a shotgun, and he misfired, causing bullets to ricochet and hit two women.

One of the women was hit in the forehead and a bullet hit the second woman in the abdomen and shoulder, police said.

Both women were treated at the scene. Authorities did not provide further details on their state of health.

HPD said the security officer fled the scene before police arrived.

Authorities have not provided any further details about the search for the guard or a physical description.

Investigators said there was no incident in this case that required the guard to use his firearm.

An investigation is underway, HPD said.
