State police hold ceremony in Batavia to honor fallen soldiers

BATAVIA, NY — New York State Police officers gathered with family and friends in Batavia on Wednesday to pay their respects to officers who died in the line of duty.

At the State Police Troop A service in Batavia, five police officers from the region who made the ultimate sacrifice were honored.

“We must not forget that they are heroes. We will never forget their sacrifice and what they did. And that is why this tradition exists. And that is why we take this very seriously,” said Trooper James O’Callaghan.

The service has honored soldiers since 1925.
