Fort Worth Police Save Drowning Child – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

As summer begins, water safety should be a top priority for any family near a pool or body of water.

Fort Worth Police recently saved a family from tragedy and reunited them with family who now call them heroes.

The department said on May 1 that the West Division responded to a “water emergency call” regarding a 2-year-old boy, Rowdy, who had apparently drowned in a pool. When officers arrived, they found the boy’s mother performing CPR on the child.

Officers immediately jumped into action. One of the officers, Officer Davachi, immediately began CPR while Sergeant Brady assisted with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The Fort Worth Fire Department arrived within minutes and assisted with medical care, along with MedStar, who transported the child to a local hospital.

When they reached the hospital, it still seemed like the little boy would not make it and the doctors did not expect him to survive the night. But then, on May 8, a miracle happened. Rowdy had fully recovered and was able to leave the hospital.

To celebrate this incredible achievement, Officer Davachi and the entire second shift team that responded to the first call visited Rowdy and his family. They brought teddy bears for Rowdy and his siblings and even allowed the family to see their police cars.
