Brandon Beane said no one should expect the Buffalo Bills to make big strides between the end of the NFL Draft and the start of training camp.

But the signing of receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Tuesday morning is an interesting move to say the least.

Valdes-Scantling is by no means an NFL star, but the 29-year-old is entering his seventh NFL season and, if nothing else, brings some speed to a Buffalo receiving corps that needs it .

Valdes-Scantling was originally a fifth-round pick of the Packers in 2018, so he worked his first four seasons with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. With the Packers, he caught 123 passes for 2,153 yards and 16 touchdowns, and in 2020, he led the NFL with an average of 20.9 yards per catch.

He joined the Chiefs and played with Patrick Mahomes where he won two consecutive Super Bowls. MVS caught 63 passes for 1,002 yards and 1 touchdown with Kansas City. Last year, in the Chiefs’ 27-24 divisional round victory over the Bills, he had two catches for 62 yards.
