1 was arrested after a neighborhood dispute led to a shooting in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A neighborhood dispute that led to a shooting earlier this week also led to the arrest of the Kansas City man believed to be behind it.

Jackson County, Missouri, court records show that Antwainne L. Pratt, 47, of Kansas City, was charged Monday, Sept. 23, with assault and armed criminal action stemming from a shooting that day.

Around 8:40 a.m. Monday, Kansas City, Missouri, police said they were called to a home with reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound to the back of his thigh. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a family member who witnessed the incident told police officers that Pratt, their neighbor, fired the gun. He was taken into custody and then taken to a hospital for treatment.

Witnesses and the victim all reported that an elderly family member needed help bringing in groceries when an argument broke out between Pratt and the man. When the victim returned to the house, Pratt fired the gun several times. It was also determined that Pratt was a convicted felon.

When investigators spoke with Pratt, they said he denied involvement in the shooting, even after his son confessed despite multiple statements from victims and witnesses.

Pratt has been behind bars since Sunday on a $150,000 bond. A bond review hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m., and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23, 1:30 p.m. No further information was released.
