Man charged after accident and domestic incident in Westfield | News, Sports, Jobs

WESTFIELD – A Westfield man is facing numerous charges following a domestic incident in which he also allegedly left the scene of an accident.

In a press release issued by Westfield police on Wednesday, officials said 53-year-old Robert W. Strang III faces the following charges: second-degree criminal damage to property, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree false report of an incident, hit and run after an accident involving property damage, failure to exercise reasonable and prudent speed, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, unsafe lane departure, tailgating, improper and unsafe turning, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to remove debris from the roadway.

On September 13th at 1:57 a.m., police were called to a domestic incident at 34 Washington Street. Upon arrival, all subjects were extremely uncooperative with police. Strang called 911 and reported that he was allegedly assaulted by a woman at the scene and that she drove her vehicle into his, causing damage.

Upon investigation, it was determined that Strang allegedly falsely reported this incident to 911 and was involved in a domestic incident with a woman at this location. Police say the woman fled the residence in her vehicle as Strang pursued her and allegedly rammed her fleeing vehicle multiple times with his SUV at the corner of Clinton and Franklin Streets.

Westfield police issued an arrest warrant for Strang on Sunday, who was taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Westfield police were assisted by the county sheriff’s department.
