Worker injured in cement factory accident dies

Worker P. Arjun Rao (39), who suffered burns in an accident at UltraTech cement factory in Jaggaiahpet area of ​​NTR district, died during treatment at the hospital on July 12.

“Arjun Rao hails from Budawada village and has been working as a labourer in a cement factory for the past few years,” said the villagers.

With the death of Arjun Rao, the number of victims in the incident rose to three and 13 other injured workers were admitted to several hospitals in Vijayawada. “The condition of two more victims is critical,” the doctors said.

About 16 workers sustained burns while working at the UltraTech cement factory in Budawada village on July 7 when hot mortar fell on them. Police deployed additional forces to Budawada village and picketed the UltraTech cement factory as a precautionary measure.
