Chatham police are asking for information from the public as part of their assault investigation

Chatham-Kent police are asking for the public’s help following an attack early Saturday morning.

According to police, three 20-year-old men left a bar shortly after midnight on Saturday and walked along King Street West.

In the area of ​​King Street and 4th Street, the first group was confronted by a second group of unknown men and a fight allegedly ensued.

According to police, the two groups did not know each other.

After the fight ended, an officer patrolling the area was approached and alerted to the attack. Several officers then went to the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

A man was taken to the Public General Hospital for his injuries and later released.

The incident is currently under investigation.
