Houston Astros target doesn’t want to be traded

The surging Houston Astros are in a strong position to win the American League West after their worst start to a season in much of the last decade. A dynasty that has proven year after year that it will be a force to be reckoned with.

Even when times are tough, they have always found a way to respond. In 2024, that was the case again, and it looks like it’s just the beginning of something special brewing in Houston.

They will look to improve their team this month at the trade deadline, especially if they continue to play this way. The biggest target being discussed is Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Guerrero would be a perfect fit, as the Astros would need help at first base. Not only would he fill that role, but he’s arguably one of the best in baseball when he’s at the top of his game.

The Toronto Blue Jays are 16.0 games out of first place in the American League East and 8.5 games out of the third wild card spot. So they have no reason not to sell. Maybe Guerrero isn’t on this list because of the type of player he is, as he’s the face of their franchise.

However, moving Guerrero would also allow the Blue Jays to make a big haul, which could interest their management.

The right-handed hitter has heard the rumors, but he made it clear he doesn’t want to be traded, according to TSN’s Scott Mitchell.

“I don’t want to leave, I want to stay here all my life. But that’s business.”

He’s a free agent in 2026 and is looking to get paid, but he understands that his time is coming and isn’t worried about it.

“My time will come. I don’t know if it’s soon or not, but it will come.”

Both of those answers are good indications that he doesn’t want to leave Toronto, and rightly so. The city is beautiful and the Blue Jays have the assets to succeed if he stays there for the next decade and management makes changes around him.

At the end of the day, he understands that this is a business, so if he gets transferred, it doesn’t mean he’s not willing to do whatever it takes to win with his next team.

Houston could use some help, as this trade could propel them to the top. With less than a month until the deadline, this is definitely something to keep an eye on.
