Zacharie Risacher first introduced by the Atlanta Hawks

It was a big day for the Atlanta Hawks franchise.

After selecting French forward Zaccharie Risacher first overall in Wednesday’s NBA draft, Risacher was officially introduced to the city of Atlanta today during his introductory press conference. Second round pick Nikola Djurisic was also introduced today and the newest members of the Atlanta Hawks took the stage and met the media for the first time.

Risacher talked about the moment he learned he would be the No. 1 pick Wednesday night, his favorite NBA players and more.

When Hawks general manager Landry Fields met with the media after the end of the first round of the draft, he noted that Risacher’s versatility on the defensive end and his ability to shoot were important factors in the Hawks liking him as hope:

“Well, you start with what you see is he’s 6’2” and he’s got the ability to play both sides of the ball, he’s got the ability to defend, he’s a versatile defender, a very good shooter and a high IQ player. You know, the level of development he’s had so far is fantastic, he’s only 19, he’s going to be 19 all next year and I’ve always said all the qualities that are important to us in the past, about those types of players and the ones that we want in the building ultimately and he’s got a lot of them.”

Risacher is a 6’8, 204 lbs winger who fills a big need for Atlanta. He has two-way versatility and has performed well in his league playoff run since the lottery. He is a plug-and-play type forward who would fit the Hawks as a starting 2 or 3.
