Why can’t men get a job? | NewsRadio 740 KTRH

The number of men in the labor market tends to decrease. The employment rate for men aged 25 to 54 has fallen from 95% in the 1950s and 1960s to around 85% today. The reason? Some men can’t find a job, while others just don’t want one.

Maya Ratcliff, the founder of Hawaii Fluid Arts, told KTRH, “When it’s easier to get unemployment and there are a lot of other government benefits, I think some people take the easy way out. »

Ratcliff also says self-employment and the gig economy could be factors behind the growth in unemployment among men. She said: “They may still have paid employment, but it doesn’t show up on employment records because they don’t work for a major employer. »

Ratcliff says if you’re currently struggling to find work, make sure you have a well-written and detailed resume.
