Officers from the California Highway Patrol, UCPD and other area police agencies just searched a UC Berkeley property occupied by protesters on Wednesday.

CHP officers began setting up barricades just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Police repeatedly ordered everyone in the area to disperse and said anyone who did not leave the area would face arrests, tear gas and other types of violence.

At around 7:10 p.m., a UC Berkeley spokesman said an estimated 12 people had been arrested.

As of 7:50 p.m., a group of protesters continued to loudly chant for Palestine directly in front of the police barricade west of the occupied building.

The story develops.
