Elgin Police seek information after ‘serious sexual assault’ in Cooper Park

Investigations are underway after a teenager was “severely sexually abused” in a park.

Police are appealing for information after the 17-year-old was attacked in Cooper Park in Elgin in the early hours of Sunday, August 4.

Forensic teams were called to the crime scene behind the park’s tennis courts (where the old birdcage used to be) and remained on site throughout the day before finally leaving around 7pm.

A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland officers are investigating a serious sexual assault on a 17-year-old female which occurred between 2.30am and 3am on Sunday 4 August in Cooper Park, Elgin.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time or spoke to a young woman in the area is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0752 of 4 August 2024.”
