Georgia man arrested for murder of father who picked up daughter from middle school graduation

A Georgia man suspected of shooting a man at a middle school graduation ceremony was arrested Wednesday.

WMAZ reports that 36-year-old Dexter Oliver of Fort Valley is charged with the murder of 31-year-old Micah McCant.

Fort Valley Police Chief DJ Flores told WMAZ that McCant and another person were shot around 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, as he picked up his daughter from a graduation party.

McCant died later that night in the hospital.

Flores told WMAZ that some teenagers showed up at the party uninvited and a physical altercation ensued that escalated into gunfire.
