BELLBROOK – A man died Thursday night following a motorcycle accident in Bellbrook.

The accident was reported around 5:40 p.m. in the area of ​​N. Main Street and Big Tree Road.

According to Bellbrook Police Captain Steve Lane, 74-year-old Howard Mayfield of Dayton was riding his motorcycle north on N. Main Street when he struck a deer.

Mayfield succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident.

Lane confirmed that Mayfield was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Investigators are looking into whether speed played a role. There were initially no signs of impairment.

The crash remains under investigation.
