BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Last night, the American Police Hall of Fame hosted a law enforcement memorial service for officers who died in the line of duty.

The annual event honors fallen police officers from across the country, whose families and friends gathered to honor their memory.

Those in attendance last night and the thousands of others who held similar ceremonies across our great country stood in unity.

An incredible family brought together to honor service and sacrifice, honoring those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

The ceremony was somber as the names of those who had made the ultimate sacrifice were read out. Each name proudly recalled their passion and memory as a spouse, mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister or friend.

All those lost shared a common bond, a desire to protect their communities, and a willingness to stand against evil. They made this decision not for money or prestige, but for love of the job and passion for service.

Commemorations are about passion and honor. Passion for our lost loved ones and those who continue to serve. Nobody enters this profession just to have something to do.

Law enforcement officers are different based on their desires and commitment to a job that requires them to risk their own lives to protect others. They are different because they all live with the distinct possibility that every single shift will be the last time they see their family and friends. Different because this possibility is becoming a reality for far too many.

Last night we stood together to remember our fallen heroes who have gone home and rest in peace, knowing that they were servants, peacemakers and protectors!

Please join me in thanking the Police Hall of Fame and every group or civic organization that has reached out with love and support to the survivors of our heroes.

And please take a moment to sit in silence and reflection on our heroes who each made the ultimate sacrifice!! Because in America our heroes live on forever in our hearts!!
