West Houston murder suspect held without bail

A judge ruled that Anthony Martin Landry, 57, be held without bail. He is accused of the murder of Jeffrey Limmer.

HOUSTON — A man accused of shooting and killing an attorney at a west Houston McDonald’s earlier this month appeared in court Wednesday.

Anthony Martin Landry, 57, is charged with murder. Investigators said he fatally shot Jeffrey Limmer, 46, at a fast food restaurant along Katy Highway in Chimney Rock around 6 p.m. on May 4.

In court, prosecutors said Landry was seen arguing with a worker over his order when Limmer intervened and told him to stop yelling at the employee.

Prosecutors said Landry and Limmer had a verbal exchange before Landry left, went to get a gun from his car, returned and shot Limmer multiple times.

Landry faced a judge Wednesday morning. The judge ordered him held without bail.

“I don’t care if it was self-defense or not,” the judge said.

While Landry’s defense team claims self-defense, prosecutors have said they believe it was intentional. The defense team said Limmer jumped Landry and punched him outside the McDonald’s before the shooting.

A memorial service and celebration of life was held Wednesday for Limmer.

Limmer was an associate in the Houston office of the law firm Lewis Brisbois. According to his biography on the company’s website, Limmer attended the University of Texas at Austin and the South Texas College of Law.

His family released the following statement prior to Landry’s arrest.

“Our family is relieved to learn that the suspect has been identified, and we pray that he is apprehended as quickly as possible so that he cannot harm anyone else. Additionally, we pray for the safety of the force of order as they strive to bring it to justice.
