Police given 12 more hours to question Ipswich murder suspect

A 27-year-old man arrested in connection with a murder investigation is being questioned by police

Investigators investigating a murder case were given an additional 12 hours to question a suspect.

Police were called to a stabbing on Burrell Road in Ipswich shortly after 7.10pm (BST) on Tuesday.

A Woman in her 20s was found with serious injuries and died a short time later before reaching the hospital.

Suffolk Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in Ipswich on suspicion of murder and now have more time to question him.

A police spokesman confirmed that the detectives had been granted an extension of their service.

While the investigation continues, the streets along Burrell Road remain blocked off and closed.

On Wednesday, Superintendent Andy Martin told BBC Look East that the victim and suspect “knew each other well”.

He urged anyone with information to contact police.
