Home Minister Lamichhane claims the investigation into the Nirmala Panta case is complete

KATHMANDU, July 14: Deputy Prime Minister and Caretaker Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane addressed a press conference at the ministry on Sunday and said the investigation into the Nirmala Panta rape and murder case had been completed.

He also claimed that he had not violated any regulations of the Nepal Police. Despite being the Home Minister, he had never instructed the security agencies to refrain from inspecting or investigating him, he claimed. He said no one should be protected or defended from the consequences of their misconduct. He also urged the Nepal Police to investigate him if necessary.

He said he had neither transferred, promoted nor demoted anyone.

He said he had no objection to the publication of the investigation report into the recent gold smuggling cases. However, out of respect for the data protection of the state security authorities, it was not published.
