Texas Family Bakery Expands to Atlanta

A family-owned bakery from Texas will expand to the Atlanta metro area later this year.

Jolly Jolly Bakery offers fresh bread baked daily – white, wheat, cinnamon raisin, sugar free, rolls, baguettes and more – made organically and without preservatives, like many typical breads.

“All our bread is baked fresh every day,” said the operations manager Christmas Onobun said And now Atlanta“The quality of our taste will always keep you coming back. Once you have tasted our bread, you will no longer need to go to other grocery stores to get it.”

They have developed the quality taste of their Nigerian agege bread, which they call Jolly Jolly Bread, and the offerings don’t stop there. Jolly Jolly Bakery also offers sweets and pastries like pound cakes, coconut macaroons, kolaches and scones, as well as a variety of Nigerian snacks and savoury dishes like meat pies, sausage rolls, a type of doughnut called Akaraand more. Jolly Jolly Bakery opened about 13 years ago in Houston, followed by locations in Pearland and Dallas several years later.

Noel’s father, James, came up with the idea for the business after always having a passion for making bread. He founded Jolly Jolly Bakery with his wife, Jolly, who gave the business her name. The name also refers to the cheerful and vibrant atmosphere they aim to create in each store.

“When you’re a customer and you come in, our staff is very enthusiastic,” Noel said. “It’s a nice place to be.”

He got involved in the bakery after graduating from college and giving up a corporate job to help the business grow.

“I wanted to take my family business to new heights,” he said.

Expanding into Georgia made sense for Jolly Jolly Bakery, which has a large e-commerce customer base in Atlanta.

“Most of our customers come from Atlanta,” Noel said. “They order online and our bakery always delivers to Atlanta, Georgia. So we thought our next destination would be Atlanta.”

The city’s diversity and large size, along with its large foodie population and thriving culinary scene, also made it an ideal first location for Jolly Jolly Bakery’s first expansion outside of Texas.

The first Peach State location is expected to open in October in Lilburn, with more growth expected for Jolly Jolly Bakery.

“After Atlanta, we also hope to expand even further,” Noel said.
