Truck driver leaves scene of accident after cyclist killed on way to work, police say

HOUSTON (KHOU) – A 53-year-old cyclist riding his bike to work was killed in a hit-and-run crash involving a semi-truck in the Houston area Friday morning.

According to police, the fatal hit-and-run accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Sam Houston Parkway East.

A witness called 911 when police reported that the truck did not stop after striking the man, whose name was not immediately identified.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident, but the cyclist was ultimately pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the truck and the suspected hit-and-run driver is asked to call Houston police.
