Fani Willis slams critics for attacks and claims she was ‘oversexualised’

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis took aim at her critics, but did not directly name them, as she spoke at a church outside Atlanta on Thursday.

The controversial district attorney is facing disqualification from the 2020 election fraud trial against former President Donald Trump after allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with one of the prosecutors in the case. During her speech Thursday, Willis accused her critics of oversexualizing her and intentionally mispronouncing her name.

“I am living the experience of a black woman being attacked and oversexualized,” Willis said, according to the Related Press“You see, I’m so sick of hearing these idiots call my name ‘Fanny’ to humiliate me because, like stupid schoolboys, the name reminds them of a woman’s bottom, her bum.”

Trump has frequently criticized her, including mocking the pronunciation of her name at a rally in Ohio in March, saying, “It’s spelled Fani, like your ass.”

Another critic of Willis is House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who has been investigating Willis’ handling of her prosecution of Trump. She appeared to take a swipe at him in her remarks, saying there are “politicians who don’t spend time pursuing their elected agendas” and referring to a “clown in Washington, DC” who has been in Congress for “17 years and hasn’t passed a single bill.” Jordan has been in office since 2007, and none of the bills he has initiated have been enacted.

Earlier this week, Willis asked an appeals court to dismiss the Trump camp’s appeal of a ruling that would have allowed her to remain involved in the 2020 election in the Peach State.

In her speech, Willis said that she would not let the insults deter her from her work and vowed to continue her work as district attorney.

“I want to tell you not to worry about insults against me. I promise you I don’t care,” Willis said. “I’m too busy working 15-hour days and using every talent God has given me to fulfill my God-given purpose.”
