Goldsboro police investigate double shooting: One dead, another in critical condition

Goldsboro police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday evening that left one person dead and another injured.

At approximately 5:47 p.m., Goldsboro Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1600 block of S. John Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment and is currently in critical condition.

During their investigation, they received another call about an unconscious man with a gunshot wound in a vehicle in the 300 block of Hollowell Avenue.

His death was pronounced at the scene.

The criminal investigation department and forensic investigators were on their way to both crime scenes.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim, who was located in the 300 block of Hollowell Street, was also involved in the incident in the 1600 block of John Street.

Investigators believe the two victims knew each other and had an argument before the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
