Augusta woman and baby found dead in home

An Augusta woman and a baby were found dead in their home Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 1600 block of Chase Creek Court on Saturday around 4:15 p.m. in reference to deceased persons, according to Sgt. John Perry.

“Upon arrival, officers found an adult female and a male infant deceased inside the residence,” the sergeant said in a press release.

No information was given about the type or cause of the deaths.

The names of those who died were not released. The coroner’s office was on scene and working to notify the family. Autopsies are planned, said Coroner Mark Bowen.
