Enzo Fernandez has shattered the harmony in the Chelsea dressing room

Enzo Fernandez has shattered the harmony in the Chelsea dressing room

An incident this week is said to have shattered the harmony in the Chelsea camp. According to insiders, an apology is not enough.

It is currently a worrying situation that Chelsea’s new head coach Enzo Maresca has to deal with, even though he really only wants to concentrate on preparing for the new season in the first few weeks of his new job.

Sources: Frank Lampard is involved in the hunt for a new England manager, plus three other former Chelsea managers are in the running!

His becoming Chelsea manager is bad enough in itself, especially after the last few seasons have brought even more turmoil and uncertainty to the club and its fans, so the last thing he and Chelsea needed right now was another dramatic situation.

And that’s exactly what Enzo Fernandez did with his idiotic video this week.

The midfielder posted a live stream of himself and some Argentinian teammates singing an offensive song that alluded to the French players’ origins. The song was both homophobic and racist, sparking a response from Wesley Fofana, who labelled it racism online. Enzo was unfollowed on social media by several of his Chelsea teammates.

Nicolas Jackson supported Enzo yesterday with a supportive post on his story, but there now seems to be a rift in the dressing room.

According to a report in The Sun, Chelsea’s pre-season plans are in complete chaos after a dressing room argument sparked by Enzo Fernandez’s racist video.

Insiders at Stamford Bridge stadium say the incident has shattered the harmony in the camp and it will take a lot of effort to repair the damage.

Enzo has issued an apology, but an insider told SunSport: “It’s not enough.”

Chelsea have a large number of French players in their squad, including Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Malo Gusto, Malang Sarr, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu and Fofana. Three other non-French players are also believed to be upset.

Chelsea and the world football association FIFA have launched investigations into the controversial post.
