Man arrested on outstanding warrants after traffic stop in Harris County | Texas

Houston, Texas – A man with a felony warrant was arrested Thursday after attempting to flee during a traffic stop, according to officials with Harris County’s Second Precinct.

Officers conducted the traffic stop near the 11500 block of Beamer Road on a vehicle that had an expired registration and a sagging rear bumper, creating a traffic hazard. When officers made contact with the individuals inside the vehicle, they asked them to remain in the vehicle until the traffic stop was completed.

One of the passengers, 36-year-old Arkadio Olivares-Lopez, had a Harris County warrant for his arrest for possession of a controlled substance and a U.S. Marshals warrant for the same charge. When officers attempted to arrest Olivares-Lopez, he fled on foot into oncoming traffic. After a brief pursuit, he surrendered by laying on the ground.

Olivares-Lopez was taken to the Harris County Jail, where he was arrested on his outstanding warrants and a new charge of fleeing arrest on foot, the release said.
