Work session planned to prevent future water main breaks in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The city of Atlanta is trying to address persistent water main breaks that continue to occur.

Atlanta City Council members will meet in a few days to discuss serious solutions.

On Friday, the Department of Watershed Management said it was investigating another potential water main incident off Woodland Avenue. The city said the incident could result in water outages for residents and businesses in the area.

Service to several Buckhead apartment complexes was restored Thursday night following a water main break.

The city said the rupture occurred at the intersection of Lakeside Drive NE and Kingsboro Road NE.

About a month ago, a series of water main breaks in Atlanta disrupted water service, crippling businesses and simple daily functions for some residents.

But the city hopes to address and fix the current water problems.

The city’s utilities committee will hold a work session on water main break repairs on Tuesday, July 9.

The announcement also said that during the working session, the committee will discuss plans to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
