Bills receiver earns Top 10 rookie status according to Fantasy Football Analyst

There are plenty of targets available and a capable quarterback at the controls, creating a near-ideal situation for Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman.

Coleman, 21, joins a receiving corps that includes just one player — Khalil Shakir — who once caught a pass from field general Josh Allen in an NFL regular-season game. With the departure of WR1 Stefon Diggs and WR2 Gabe Davis this offseason, Coleman will immediately compete for a share of the 241 dropped targets the two former Bills gained last year.

With a potential path to significant playing time pending, Coleman is naturally one of the high-end rookie prospects in the fantasy football world. Sports Illustrated Fantasy guru Michael Fabiano ranked him “Top 10 Rookies to Hit” and placed Coleman at No. 8 overall, one spot ahead of Chicago Bears pick Rome Odunze.

Coleman, the No. 33 pick in the draft, is one of six freshmen receivers listed. Two quarterbacks, a running back and a tight end round out the group that is topped by WR Marvin Harrison Jr. of the Arizona Cardinals and WR Malik Nabers of the New York Giants at second overall.

From The 10 best first-year players to target in the drafts:

8. Keon Coleman, WR, Buffalo Bills

Coleman may not be the best wide receiver in the 2024 class, but there’s no doubt he found himself in one of the best situations. The Bills traded Stefon Diggs and lost Gabe Davis, leaving behind 241 targets on offense. Coleman will absorb a lot of that, making him a potential sleeper in the fantasy world. —Michael Fabiano

Coleman led the Atlantic Coast Conference with 11 touchdown receptions in 2023. At least he projects as a threat down the field with good contested catching ability for Allen and Co. As for becoming an every-down receiver, there still appears to be room for development, especially in the areas of run blocking and digesting the NFL’s massive offensive playbook.

Davis’ 746 yards and seven touchdowns last year appear to be a realistic goal for Coleman in 2024.
