ForbesTips and answers from today’s NYT “Connections” for Saturday, June 1

Hey, friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Today New York Times Connections clues and answers arrive immediately.

How to play connections

In Connections, a grid of 16 words is presented to you. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by determining the links that unite them. Groups can be things like horror movie franchises, a verb type, or rappers.

There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you will need to be careful when dealing with words that can fit into multiple categories. You can mix up the words to perhaps help you see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest to deduce. The purple group often involves puns, so keep that in mind.

Select four words that you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and are wrong, you will lose a life. If you’re close to having a decent group, you may see a message telling you that you’re one word away from succeeding, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure this doesn’t happen with the help of a few clues, and, if you’re really struggling, the Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today Connections the answers are…

  • Yellow group — conformists (FOLLOWERS, LEMMINGS, PUPPETS, SHEEP)
  • Green Group — corporate shareholding offers (SHARES, OPTIONS, SHARES, SHARES)
  • Blue Group — American Cities (BILLINGS, BUFFALO, MOBILE, PHOENIX)
  • Purple group — what “dig” could mean (APARTMENT, INSULTS, LIKES, SHOVELS)

My first perfect match in a few days brings my overall streak to 12 wins.

SUBSCRIBERS, LIKES and SHARES have added up to constitute a red herring on social networks. I quickly realized that FOLLOWERS went with the yellows and SHARES went with the greens.

It didn’t take much longer to deduct the cities, leaving the purple group for the win. Unfortunately, I didn’t understand the link beforehand. I never imagined someone would call a shovel a “dig.”
