San Antonio Food Bank Sends Critical Supplies to Houston After Disastrous Storms

Texans are coming together to help the city of Houston recover from hurricane-like storms that swept through earlier this week.

SAN ANTONIO โ€” The San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) sent critical supplies to its sister food bank in Houston to help people struggling after hurricane-like storms swept through the city earlier this week.

At 9 a.m. Saturday morning, SAFB sent a tractor-trailer full of water and snacks to the Houston Food Bank. This is the first request of the season for San Antonio to participate in a natural disaster response in a neighboring region.

โ€œOur hearts go out to our neighbors in Houston. San Antonio is at its best when serving and giving. We are happy that we were able to help recover a tractor-trailer full of water and food after a storm,โ€ said the CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank.

CPS Energy is also sending additional assistance to restore power to thousands who lost it during the storm.

CPS will help Houston area crews restore power to citizens as well as 125 traffic lights damaged by the storms.

The National Weather Service confirmed that two EF-1 tornadoes ripped through Southeast Texas during the storms, killing at least seven people.

Prayers to the city of Houston and all those affected by these destructive storms.
