Last Saturday, Austin FC played well but lost to FC Dallas 2-1 to end a three-game shutout streak. Austin scored his only goal in 84th minute when Owen Wolff won a penalty, converted by Sebastián Driussi – the 100th goal of his professional career.

Although disappointed to find themselves on the wrong side of the score, Austin took a lot of positives from a match in which they dominated, dominated duels and outplayed their opponents by wide margins. The Verde & Black are now quickly turning their attention to Houston Dynamo FC as the battle for the Copa Tejas continues. Wednesday’s game will be Houston’s first of two trips to Q2 Stadium this season.

The two teams met on April 20, when Austin beat Dynamo FC in Houston 1-0 with an 86.th winning minute by Emiliano Rigoni. The Verde & Black have won six of their nine all-time meetings against Houston and will look to continue that streak in front of their home fans this Wednesday night.

Houston Dynamo FC Outlook

With about a third of the season played, Houston Dynamo FC sits in seventh place with a 5-2-4 record. After crashing out of the US Open Cup against USL Championship team Detroit Ciy FC last Tuesday night, Houston bounced back in impressive fashion with a 2-1 away win over Sporting KC in their match of MLS on Saturday.

Houston captain Héctor Herrera scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring in the match against SKC, and Ibrahim Aliyu found the winner with his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 78th .th minute.

Houston has scored more points on the road (nine) than at home (eight) so far this season, a fact Austin will need to be aware of Wednesday night. Like the April 20 match, this could once again prove to be a low-scoring encounter. Houston’s 11 goals conceded are tied for the fewest in the Western Conference, while their 11 goals scored are the fewest in the conference.
